Mixing Ratios - Sprayer Calibration
Share
Working out application rates and mixing ratios when applying products can be a workout for the brain 🧠
The number 1 question we get is "how much do I put in my 5L sprayer?"
With many liquid fertilisers, herbicides, fungicides etc it isn't that simple. The application rate is based on the size of the area being treated rather than the sprayer volume. As a result it is important to calibrate your sprayer in order to apply products accurately and get the best result ✅️
Although it may sound intimidating, don't be frightened. Calibrating your sprayer simply means understanding how much water volume it uses over a specified area. Simply measure an area and spray it with water, no product yet. Determine how much water you used and you're ready to go.
For example, if you spray 50sqm and use 2.5L of water then you will use 5L per 100sqm. The product you're going to apply will have a rate of application per 100sqm. As an example Bow and Arrow herbicide has a rate of 50ml per 100sqm, in this example if the lawn area being treated is 150sqm we would use 75ml of product in 7.5L of water.
